Race week

IT’S RACE WEEK!

Writing to you from Boulder, Colorado—the ultimate endurance athlete mecca. I flew in this past Saturday to attend the Ride for Magnus (White) and to give myself a week to adjust to the thin air before we head even higher this weekend.

This past Sunday, thousands of cyclists came together to honor the life of Magnus White, a young rider tragically lost while training in Boulder. It was an incredibly powerful experience, joining an estimated 4,000 riders to celebrate his life, as well as voice change for urgent reforms to protect cyclists and pedestrians. The ride was a poignant reminder of the challenges we face on the road and the strength of our community when we come together for change.

As we head into SBT this weekend, I finally get time to taper, relax, acclimate, and really let the knife sharpen into Sunday’s race day. All the big work is done and this week is compromised by lots of shorter, easier rides to make sure the battery is fully charged.

For the bike geeks! This weekend I’ll be riding my BMC Kaius 01. A gravel bike designed for racing, this is the perfect weapon for the fast SBT gravel.

Tires will be the Schwalbe G-One RS (700x40c), the fastest rolling gravel tires there is. I do all my speed research HERE. Inside the tires is my new favorite aspect of the gravel setup, the Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant. This is THE BEST sealant money can buy.

At the rear I’ll be running the Sram Mullet setup, a 48 tooth front ring and a BIG 10-50 in the rear. I’ve got Ceramicspeed bearings in my Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels and UFO drip on the chain. Speed is everything this weekend and boy have I GOT IT.

LETS GO RACING.

Best,

MG
